1 Day in Dubrovnik

Only have a short time in Croatia? Or maybe you’re stopping at Dubrovnik’s cruise port. Here’s what I recommend you see in your limited time in the city.

We started our day with a visit to Fort Lovrijenac, a seaside fortress used to host theatrical performances. Once used to film Game of Thrones we enjoyed seeing some filming locations as well as a great view of the Old Town.

Next we headed to Large Onofrio's Fountain, on the way into the Old Town one of the first things you come across is the the large fountain built in 1438 and decorated with ornate carved stone masks. This was also a filming location in Star Wars the Last Jedi so our party was excited to take some photos here as well.

After that we took a short stroll to the Jesuit Steps. The steps lead that lead to Jesuit Church of St Ignatius are a famous sight. Most known for the iconic “shame” scene in Game of Thrones the steps have recently been restored.

A short walk from the steps is Gundulic Square where you will find some cute cafes and our favorite, 2 Euro mojitos. We stopped and had lunch here and took some time to relax before heading off again.

Our next stop after lunch was the Old Town City Walls where we took the hike up to the top to walk along the walls. we got the best views of the city and sea from up there and were also able to see the Dubrovnik Clock Tower.

Overall our time in Dubrovnik was short but sweet, we enjoyed everything we saw and had so much fun walking around the Game of Thrones gift shops.
