Antarctica Look-Book & Must Haves
In 2023 me and my sister went on a cruise to Antarctica, Here are the things we couldn’t survive without.
Firstly, an absolute must have is an insulated puffer jacket, I wore the North Face Aconcagua 3 Jacket. I Loved this Jacket and it kept me perfectly warm from Ushuaia to Antarctica in the 15 degree weather. This is something I would 100% recommend splurging on if you’re going somewhere cold, it was an absolute life saver and allowed us to be outside for hours on end without getting too cold.
Next i would argue that thermals are a staple you should invest in. We wore these under every outfit in Argentina and Antarctica, during our whale watching tour out on the ocean and also just walking around the deck of the ship in the snow while in Antarctica. We both wore the 32 Degrees Thermal set. These were an affordable yet quality option that fit perfectly under both jeans and leggings. If you can’t find these as they sell out easy Amazon also has some good thermal set options, just check the reviews to find a good set.
My absolute lifesaver was the Junk Brand Neck Gaiter. This was absolutely one of the best things I packed, it kept me warm without being too heavy. I wore this anytime we were outside and it took the place of a scarf as I am not a fan of bulky scarfs. you can find $10-$12 options on amazon if you don’t want the Junk Brand logo.
Next would be tech adaptive gloves. As someone who was constantly playing around with my camera settings I was nervous of bulky gloves getting in the way. My sister actually found these gloves on amazon and right around $13 they did the job, I was able to change settings on my camera and work my iPhone. These were perfect!
The whole time we were away I wound up wearing a combination of Nike Airforces and Doc Martens boots. So Thermal Wool Socks were a must have. Since we weren’t doing any snowy weather hiking I felt like snow boots or hiking shoes were unnecessary. Since I picked shoes that weren’t insulated these socks came in super handy. I wore the Bombas Wool Socks, but there are a lot cheaper options on Amazon and at stores like Target and Walmart. Here’s the link for the socks I wore.
These are all the items I would say are must haves if you’re traveling somewhere cold, or vacationing during the winter months. This trip was hard to pack for as we were also visiting places like Buenos Aries and Uruguay where it was 80 degrees, then traveling south to Chile and Argentina being 15-30 degrees. We packed only carry ons so we tried to condense as much as we could, and this is our absolutely necessary purchases and must pack items.
