The Best Day Trip From Venice

Preview

One of the best day trips you can take while staying in Venice is a short boat ride away, to an island called Burano. Burano is an island in the Venetian Lagoon in northern Italy, It is known for its lace work and brightly colored homes. The view in the picture above is of Rio Giudecca Canal, a colorful waterway with views of the leaning campanile of San Martino Church. You can get to the island by both the waterbus network about a 45-50 minute journey or a private tour boat. We opted for the waterbus, which was super crowded to the point where we were sitting on the floor. I would 100% recommend taking a private boat which is offered for hire at most ports in Venice, we used this method of transportation on the way to another Venetian island called Murano. This journey was much more enjoyable and we didn’t have to worry about missing the last taxi and being stranded for the night. Overall I would 100% recommend doing a day trip to Burano and doing some shopping and sightseeing of the colorful homes and canals, it was one of the most enjoyable parts of our trip.
