Weekend Trip to Italy & Switzerland Itinerary
In February i’ll be spending a long weekend in Italy and Switzerland for my birthday! I’m in the process of planning my dream itinerary and I thought i’d share it, so here it is.
Day One, Wednesday
Fly To Milan via LHR from United States east coast, total travel time with layover is 15 hrs leaving at 6:40 PM and flying overnight. The price for this flight round trip is $510.
Day Two, Thursday
Landing in Milan at 2:40 PM its the perfect time as check in at the airbnb is at 3 PM. We will be taking the Milan Malpensa Express train to Milan Centrale which cost 13 Euros and takes about 50 minutes. We picked an airbnb that is a 10 minute walk from the station so we will then be walking to our apartment. Venturing out that night we plan to have dinner at a restaurant within walking distance as we will probably be jet lagged and need a good night sleep.
Day Three, Friday
On our first full day we intend to book the Lake Como & Bellagio Day Trip W a Boat Tour. This is a must do for us as we are really excited about visiting Lake Como since we missed it on our last trip to Italy. This tour includes round trip transfer from Milan and will take us to Cattedrale Di Como, Villa Del Balbianello, Isola Comacina and Bellagio. During this tour we will also be making a stop in Lugano, Switzerland to see the town and experience a taste of the country before our tour on the next day. After this 10 hour tour we will be dropped back in central Milan to get some dinner before heading back to our apartment.
Day Four, Saturday
I’m super excited for this day because we will be doing the Bernina Red Train, Swiss Alps & St Moritz tour. I’ve always had “riding the red train through the Alps” on my bucketlist, so what better time to experience it than on my birthday. This tour will take us from Milan to St. Moritz & Piz Bernina where we will board the Red Train for the 2 hour 30 minute scenic ride before taking the coach back to Milan at the end of the day.
Day Five, Sunday
As this day will be a Sunday we decided to dedicate this as a free day since most tours don’t operate on Sundays. We will take this day to explore central Milan and stop at some cafes and do some shopping.
Day Six, Monday
We will then be flying from Milan back to LHR before flying to the east coast of the United States and back home.
